a child's verse
'consider the birds'
are among the words
that carry me thru my day
their homes without door
built by those made to soar
with ne'er a mortgage to pay
our sticks and stones
hide broken bones
and ne'er do the passers see
the joys and the sorrows
that humankind borrows
behind doors in want of a key
we earthen jars
in earth-bound cars
traverse the asphalt sea
converging and merging
consuming and purging
while 'consider the birds' is the plea
