Time Signature
Time Signature
What songs were heard
when fingers did sail
'cross ivory abandoned
now in silent travail
unseamly ends
with untimely tests
naught for knot winds
with uncomfortable rests
cold garments of dust
from the tailor of time
dampening wanderlust
and song becomes mime
the metro gnomes toll
linked by Eden gate's chain
"Not in part but in whole"
their constant refrain
'time will tell'
is the clarion call
and, 'all shall be well'
at the end of it all
the melodies linger
unemcumbered by staff
a lonely mute singer
is time's autograph
